Biometric identification system

Art. 3(35)Art. 5(1)(d)

A biometric identification system is an AI system intended to identify natural persons by comparing their biometric data to those contained in a reference database, without the data subject having necessarily given prior consent. Real-time remote biometric identification in publicly accessible spaces is subject to particularly strict restrictions.
